Our Story

Our History

Delhi Bible Institute was one of the first Christian organisations in New Delhi, starting in 1954 through the ministry of Robert Duff, from within a rented shop.

With financial help from John Laing it subsequently moved to a purpose-built residential centre in the heart of Delhi. The centre is now home to a Bible College and large thriving church with separate Hindi, Nepali and English speaking congregations.

Twenty years ago the leadership of DBI recognised that it was strategically important to develop satellite residential centres (Anugrah Ashrams) in the state capitals of North India. Twelve such centres have now been opened.

DBI Centres

Each centre has an enormous breadth and depth of ministry which includes:

  • Biblical training courses of various types and durations (both residential and non-residential).
  • Numerous social initiatives that offer vocational training and tackle issues including extreme poverty, mental health, addiction, and the wellbeing of children and women.
  • Busy and vibrant church life and ministry.

The outside support remains crucial and is genuinely appreciated.
